Southern Living Idea House Opens for Tours June 16

Tickets are now available for sale to tour the 2017 Southern Living Idea House, located in Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island, North Carolina. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for children 12 and under when accompanied by a paying adult. A portion of each ticket sold benefits the Old Baldy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining North Carolina’s oldest lighthouse, built in 1817. Self-guided tours of the Southern Living Idea House are offered Wednesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays from noon-4 p.m. from June 16 through September 3, 2017. From September 9 through October 29, 2017, the Idea House will be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sundays from noon-4 p.m. Purchase your tickets online.
The specially selected design team chosen by Southern Living includes builder Jeff Sanderson of Whitney Blair Custom Homes based in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; residential designer Eric Moser of Moser Design Group in Beaufort, S.C.; and interior designer Lindsey Coral Harper, who is originally from Cartersville, Ga., and whose studio is based in New York City. Located on a wooded homesite bordering The Common in Cape Fear Station, the Idea House is just a short walk from the island’s distinctive Southern Living Inspired Community, which offers homes for sale through Bald Head Island Limited Real Estate Sales.
No bridge connects Bald Head Island to the mainland and travel on the island is by bike, golf cart or your own two feet. Passenger ferries leave every hour on the hour from the Deep Point Ferry Terminal located at 1301 Ferry Rd in Southport, NC. Return ferries leave the island heading back to the mainland every hour on the half hour. Tickets for round-trip ferry passage and tram reservations to take you to the Idea House and back are not included in tour cost and should be booked directly at www.baldheadislandferry.com. Select “Idea House” from the tram drop-down list when you schedule tram service to the home and back. Or, you can rent a golf cart from Cary Cart Co. online at www.bhicarts.com and explore the island. Cary Cart Co. is located a short walk from the Bald Head Island ferry landing.
