Village of Bald Head Island
An incorporated municipality, the Village of Bald Head Island is governed by a Village Council and Mayor. A village manager and staff administer the daily business of the Village from offices located in the Town Hall across from Old Baldy Lighthouse. The village also employs a fire chief, building inspector, paramedic/firefighters and police officers. Bald Head Island is also part of the Brunswick County 911 Emergency System. Tax revenues provide services such as road maintenance, police and fire protection, emergency medical services, garbage collection and building inspection. Passenger Ferry and Tram Service
Take a deep breath – you're almost there. Bald Head Island's passenger ferry and tram service is run by Bald Head Island Transportation, Inc. The mainland ferry terminal is located at Deep Point Marina in Southport, NC. Visit www.baldheadislandferry.com to view ferry schedules and information about traveling to the island.
Bald Head Island Limited's barge is available for carrying cargo, vehicles, supplies and equipment to the island. U.S. Post Office/Island Parcel Center
Don't worry – you can keep in touch with the outside world while you’re here. The Village of Bald Head Island post office is located on Lighthouse Wynd, across from Old Baldy lighthouse and next door to the Village Hall. Post office hours are Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mail leaves the island weekdays on the 2:30 p.m. ferry. All mail needs to be dropped off by 2 p.m. to leave the island on the same day. Island Parcel Center (IPC), housed inside the Post Office, is an authorized UPS shipper and can receive FedEx packages delivered to the island. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Public Works department picks up trash twice a week. From Labor Day through Memorial Day, trash pickup occurs once a week. Property owners and guests who wish to recycle aluminum, glass, plastic, newspaper, mixed paper and junk mail may separate these materials and take them to the Solid Waste and Recycling Center located on Edward Teach Wynd, just past the Fire Station. All utilities are installed underground and require initial hookup and monthly service charges. Bald Head Association
As Bald Head Island's largest property owners' association, the BHA's primary functions include advocacy, the obligation to oversee the island's Covenants and Architectural Review, protection of the common areas, and representation of the property owner, particularly non-resident property owners. Bald Head Island Chamber of Commerce
The Bald Head Island Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization whose members include businesses based both on and off the island, nonprofit groups, neighborhood associations, private clubs, government entities and individuals. The Chamber’s mission is to promote the Bald Head Island experience and support a thriving economic community while honoring the Island's core values of sensitivity to the environment, preservation of history and celebration of traditional seaside pastimes.
Located creekside near Old Baldy Lighthouse, the picturesque Village Chapel of Bald Head Island first opened on Easter Sunday of 1987.
