The 2017 Southern Living Idea House at Cape Fear Station on Bald Head Island, a collaboration between Southern Living Magazine, Bald Head Island Limited, LLC, and Whitney Blair Custom Homes, saw thousands of visitors this summer.

The home, which was designed to provide creative ideas and inspiration for prospective and current homeowners, was open throughout the summer and on select weekends in the fall, with a portion of all house tour ticket sales benefiting the nonprofit Old Baldy Foundation.

Along with developer Bald Head Island Limited and builder Whitney Blair Custom Homes, the talented design partners chosen by Southern Living for the project were residential designer Eric Moser of Moser Design Group in Beaufort, S.C., and interior designer Lindsey Coral Harper, who is originally from Cartersville, Ga., and whose studio is based in New York City.

Although the home is no longer open for tours, we invite you to explore the following resources highlighting its design features.

“Every year we create an idyllic house that inspires Southern Living readers with design and decorating ideas they can steal for themselves,” said Southern Living Editor-in-Chief Sid Evans. “Using the South’s best architects, builders, designers and landscapers, we reimagine the ultimate Southern home and bring it to life in the magazine, on, and on our social platforms. No franchise is more eagerly anticipated by our audience than the Southern Living Idea House.

Located on a wooded homesite bordering The Common in Cape Fear Station, the Idea House is a short walk from the island’s distinctive Southern Living Inspired Community, which offers homes for sale through Bald Head Island Limited Real Estate Sales.
